Subject: AbbeyRoad last night
Hey, Barry –

Judy and our son Ivan (who’s home from college for a couple of weeks and is a pretty good guitarist – lead and bass) agreed with me that you all really rocked out last night. My personal preference was the more cramped performance when we saw you out in Crozet. The small club kind of atmosphere is more intimate for me.

BUT, and it’s a huge but you notice, you guys really rocked last night. You had a great crowd and you gave them crowd pleasers one after another. Ivan – who is a Beatles “convert” since he’s only 20 – thoroughly enjoyed a lot of the rockers you all did. We thought the bass and the drums thudded together pretty well. Our favorites (talking on the way home in the car) were “Tell Me Why” (terrific harmonies and the arrangement kicked butt as well) and “Boys” (vocal was particularly strong, but the backbeat was killer as well). Throw in some “Hey Jude” and “Roll Over Beethoven” and it added up to a great evening. You had a wonderful audience and they dug you so I hope you feel it was a success because it was. I was especially touched by what a spiritual experience it seemed to be for many of them. People were just really happy to be there…

Rock on, brother!
Doug B.

We have followed the careers of "the lads" since we moved here 8 years ago when they were called #9 Dream. To watch the amazing improvement has been nothing short of breathtaking. The musicianship, vocal accuracy and raw energy is spectacular. Keith Winkler (John) plays one heck of a mean Rickenbacker guitar and knows his way around a mouth harp (that's harmonica for you Limeys) too, but his vocal prowess is truly spine tingling. Barry Willard (Paul) plays a mean Hofner bass and is a great vocalist also. Paul Olko (George) is truly a first rate guitarist and superb vocalist that any band would be lucky to have. Bill Jobes (Ringo) is the drummer extrordinaire. With his vintage Ludwig "kit" he keeps that strong "Beatles Beat" going all night long. And he does a great job on the Ringo songs that he sings. And then we have Mike D'Antonio (Stu/George Martin/Mal Evans/Murray the K....) Mike does an amazing job on keyboards and also the vocals. His versatility on the other instruments is equally impressive. All in all, the 5 members of AbbeyRoad are a truly gifted group of musicians with an obvious love for the music of the Beatles. If you want to go and hear some of the best music ever written delivered with energy, authenticity and fun, then go hear AbbeyRoad. And bring the kids too. Nobody can resist the fun of "Yellow Submarine". You will have a wonderful time and probably go home and dust off some of your old vinyl or new CDs of The Beatles and start to remember why they were, and still are, "The Greatest Rock & Roll Band" of all time.

Cheers!      Doctor Robert and Prudence

Subject: New Year's Eve at the Omni

Just wanted to say my husband and I saw you at the Omni and you were FANTASTIC! Your band saved the night for us, we were ready to leave. I made him stay since he is a huge Beatles fan, and he had a blast! The guy with the harmonica was great too!

Thank you for a great show! We will definately watch for other dates from your band, keep it going!

"Shakin’ coordinator Cathy Simmons also enjoyed AbbeyRoad."

"Shakin’ has featured great beach music, rock and other genres in the past, but Simmons said Abbey Road blew the other performances away."
“As far as looks and sound, this is one of the best,” she said.

re/ AbbeyRoad at Carysbrook Performing Arts Center   March 1, 2008

"From the beginning when AbbeyRoad opened with “A Hard Days Night,” the audience was spellbound by these five experienced and talented instrumentalists/vocalists. This high-energy band captures the spirit of The Beatle’s sound by using a variety of vintage and replica instruments, unique vocals and harmonies. They exuded the same original style and sound of The Beatles from the beginning of their careers to the end when the band broke up."
